What is engineered mesh in footwear?
Engineered mesh
Engineered mesh is a knitted or woven synthetic upper with zones of different density — breathable where airflow is needed, denser where support is needed. It is light, breathable and the standard upper for modern athletic shoes.
Unlike plain mesh, engineered mesh varies its structure across the upper to place ventilation, stretch and support exactly where the foot needs them, often in a single piece.
It is lightweight and breathable, ideal for running, training and lifestyle sneakers.
DOING builds engineered-mesh uppers on Strobel constructions and tests tensile, tear and abrasion against the approved sample.
