Helping a Kazakhstan factory win a military footwear contract — solving cost, capacity and materials
How DOING helped a Kazakhstan factory overcome rising local costs, limited capacity and hard-to-source functional materials — and win a military footwear procurement contract as a long-term supplier.
Services: OEM · Materials sourcing · Production capacity · Quality to spec · Boots
The challenge
A footwear factory in Kazakhstan bidding to supply the military was squeezed on three fronts: rising local material and labour costs, limited production capacity, and quality that could not consistently meet military requirements. On top of that, some of the special functional materials the boots needed were not available locally, or had to be imported at high cost. They looked to China for a manufacturing partner — and found and contacted us directly through our website.
What we did
- Re-engineered the cost base with China-based production and sourcing to hit a workable price
- Provided the production capacity the local factory could not reach on its own
- Sourced the special functional materials that were unavailable or too expensive locally
- Brought build quality up to the standard the military specification required
Results
- Solved the client’s cost, capacity and materials problems together
- The client won the military procurement contract
- Became a long-term supplier to the military — an ongoing partnership
