What actually makes a shoe an orthopedic or comfort shoe?
The last, not the label. Width and depth in the forefoot, a stable heel counter, seam-reduced linings and a footbed with a defined arch profile. Most retail orthopedic ranges are comfort ranges built on a wider, deeper last, so last development is where the budget belongs rather than on extra features a buyer cannot feel.
Can you build shoes for a diabetic-friendly range?
We build to the specification you provide: extra-depth lasts, seam-free linings, no internal edges and room for a removable orthotic. To be explicit about the line we do not cross, medical claims and any medical-device certification are the brand’s responsibility in its own market, not something we certify on your behalf.
How do you design for a removable orthotic without ruining the fit?
The volume has to be designed in, not carved out. Deepening the shell alone loses heel hold and the foot slides. We build the depth into the last and pair it with a filler footbed of the right thickness, so the shoe fits both with the wearer’s own orthotic and with the footbed supplied.
Can you supply multiple width fittings?
Yes, multiple widths off one last family, which keeps the range visually consistent and tooling cost manageable. Tell us the width table your market expects, since UK, EU and US conventions differ, and we grade to it rather than guessing.
What do you test on comfort and walking shoes?
Midsole compression set (does the cushioning flatten), outsole abrasion, whole-shoe flex and bond strength, plus slip resistance where the range is sold for occupational or nursing use. High-mileage claims are the ones most likely to be challenged, so we test against the approved sample.
Do you offer OEM and ODM?
Both. With OEM we build to your design and specs; with ODM we develop new designs with you from concept. We also do private-label branding, labels and packaging.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
We are a footwear trading & manufacturing partner — our own factory plus a selected partner-factory network, with product development, quality control and export handled in-house. You get factory pricing with the service of a sourcing partner.
