OEM vs ODM vs Private Label — which do you need?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer: you bring the design and the factory builds exactly to it. ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturer: the factory develops the design — last, sole tooling, materials — and you buy that development under your own brand. Private label is not a third route; it is the branding layer (logo, labels, insole, packaging) applied on top of either one.

We develop new designs with you from concept — lasts, molds, materials. Best when you want something new without an in-house design team.

OEM & ODM — common questions
What does ODM stand for?
ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturer. In footwear it means the factory develops the design itself — last shape, sole tooling, materials and construction — and the brand buys that development, usually with its own colours, logo and packaging on top. You get a new product without running an in-house design team.
What does OEM mean in shoes?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. In footwear it means you bring the design — tech pack, patterns, specs, materials — and the factory builds exactly to it. The design stays yours; the factory supplies capacity, tooling and quality control rather than creative direction.
Is OEM or ODM better?
Neither is better in general — they answer different starting points. Choose OEM when you already have your own development and a finished tech pack, because you keep full control of the design. Choose ODM when you want a new product but have no in-house design team, because the factory carries the development work. Many brands run both: OEM for core styles they own, ODM to add a new category quickly.
How is private label different from OEM and ODM?
Private label is not a third manufacturing route — it is a branding layer on top of either one. Your logo, labels, insole print, boxes and packaging go onto a shoe that was built either to your spec (OEM) or to the factory development (ODM).
